How to Get Unstuck

I am a conflict avoider. Crazy as it seems, since I am so good at resolving conflict and have made a profession out of it. But maybe that’s why. I feel distress so deeply, mine and others’ that I’ve got to put an end to it and quick. However, turns out, the best way to do that is to spend a little time exploring it, getting to know it, feeling it, understanding its lines and curves, and being ok with its existence. There is magic in feeling what you feel, even when what you feel is very, very stuck.

Getting unstuck 101: Tip 6

Lean into your stuckness – Right, I said lean into it. Be stuck. Feel the stuckness. Sit in it and enjoy ( so to speak.) We all know the theory about resistance…so embrace. You’ve got to allow yourself to be in it to be able to move out of it. Know it with all of your senses. It has to be ok to be stuck to be able to get unstuck. Just as its opposite has to be true too. Yes, it’s got a flip side, everything does. And the flip side of being stuck is change – being ok to leave whatever situation you are stuck in, be it a relationship, a job, a city or way of life. It has to be ok to leave, to be able to free up the space to make it pleasurable to stay. And, you may actually want to leave, and that’s ok as well- let it be so.
